Danniel Fuchs delivering a TEDx talk on multigenerational living

I Built This Because I Needed It — And It Didn't Exist

Danniel Fuchs, founder of Multi-Gen Homes — Los Angeles' only free ADU and multigenerational-home advocacy service.

The Personal Origin

When my parents began to struggle, I faced the same impossible choices most adult children face: assisted living they couldn't afford, facilities that felt wrong, or trying to figure out construction and family dynamics at the same time — completely alone.

I had over a decade in the construction industry. I knew buildings. But nothing prepares you for the emotional weight of this decision. I made mistakes. I learned. And I decided to dedicate my work to making sure other families don't have to figure this out alone.

The Work

I've spent years studying multigenerational living — not just the architecture, but the psychology, the family systems, the financial models, and the cultural dimensions. I've given two TEDx talks on the subject, written the definitive guide, hosted a podcast, lectured at the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology, and built a network of LA's most rigorously vetted ADU builders.

Today I represent families through the whole arc of a project: planning, design, contractor selection, bid review, contract review, and construction oversight. I read the contracts line by line. I sit in on the bid walks. I say the uncomfortable thing to the contractor so you don't have to.

But my most important credential? I've sat at 150+ kitchen tables with families just like yours — and I know what it takes to make this work.

"Creating Harmony in Multigenerational Homes" — why the hardest part of living together is rarely the construction.

"A home is never just a building. It's where a family decides what it believes about love, responsibility, and what it means to take care of each other."
